Veterinary Students

In 2007 Dr. Hamilton began accepting 4th year Veterinary Students from Western Veterinary College located in Southern California. She acts as a teacher, mentor and a more non-traditional guidance counselor as the students spend four weeks learning the intricacies of internal medicine and working up cases alongside Dr. Hamilton.

Under Dr. Hamilton’s guidance, Western University of California Veterinary Medicine students learn not only what to do but how to do it. Intensive, personalized hands on learning have become Dr. Hamilton’s trademark contribution to aspiring future veterinarians. With our clients’ consent, patients are treated with extra skill and loving care by a dedicated  4thyear student working closely alongside Dr. Hamilton. Our veterinary students also work closely with our clients to coordinate special dietary needs, home hospice care and long term care plans for their pets.

Dr. Hamilton is currently a Clinical Professor of Veterinary Internal Medicine at Western University. In 2009, Dr. Hamilton was honored with a Preceptor of the Year Award, a distinction bestowed upon mentoring veterinarians by the vote and evaluation of students who have served rotations under their guidance. This award indicates that students not only enjoyed their time with Dr. Hamilton, but gained significant knowledge that is directly applicable to their upcoming entrance into the veterinary profession.
