Veterinary Internal Medicine Service, established in 1998, provides quality patient care for the greater San Francisco Bay area with our focus being internal medicine.  We have a caring, responsive staff that is able to manage  critical care patients and administer state-of-the-art treatment programs.  Some of the more common procedures we perform are gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, urethroscopy, chemotherapy, ultrasound and artificial insemination.

With over 45 years of combined experience in veterinary medicine our board certified internal medicine specialists, Dr. Helen B. Hamilton and Dr. Diana J. Bowen, are committed to providing excellent care to both their patients and their owners. Maintaining open lines of communication with the client’s referring veterinarian regarding the patient’s condition and follow-up care, is also an integral part of our case management. 

VIMS is conveniently located in Fremont on Washington Boulevard, near Highway 680. Within our facility we have board certified specialists in surgery, ophthalmology and dermatology, giving us the ability to provide a wide range of patient care.  We also work in conjunction with Ohlone Veterinary Emergency Clinic (OVEC).  This allows referring veterinarians to transfer critical cases directly to VIMS without moving the patient.  Our staff of specialists work together as a team to provide patients with the best care possible through our specialty services and 24-hour critical care hospital.
